About Black Flour

Our Mission

There is a lack of access to healthy, fresh goods for people facing food insecurity in Napa County and the country. Low-income communities often have limited options when it comes to nutrition and are forced to rely on donated or government-provided food options that are highly processed, lack nutrients, and are sometimes leftover goods that would otherwise go to waste. This contributes to poor health outcomes and reduced quality of life for vulnerable groups.

Black Flour aims to address this problem by providing homemade artisanal bread and baked goods to local food banks, and shelters, and directly to community members facing food insecurity. By sourcing high-quality, nutritious ingredients and providing educational programs on baking and nutrition, Black Flour can help meet the need for better food options and empower people with skills to improve their health and well-being.

Our Programs

Black Flour is a Non-Profit that provides nutritious, artisanal bread to those in need in the community. We have developed a sustainable business model with three main phases:

1. Bread Production: We bake high-quality bread using quality ingredients. Our bread will be distributed to local shelters, soup kitchens, and food banks in the area to help alleviate hunger and improve access to healthy food options for those facing food insecurity.

2. Baking Education: Black Flour will offer baking and food skills courses at an affordable cost for people in the community. Students will learn artisanal bread baking and food prep. Revenue from these courses will help fund our food donations and business operations.

3. Community Involvement: We aim to bring the community together to help those in need. Black Flour will create volunteer opportunities for locals to help bake and distribute bread, assist with courses, and more. We believe that by uniting passionate members of the community, we can make a bigger impact on reducing hunger and empowering others.

Our Impact

Since our launch in December, we have been able to donate almost 100 loves of freshly baked bread! Our goal is to donate 1,000,000 loaves.
